Carl is the protégé of David G. and began his study of anatomy and the various forms of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization at the age of 16. He is a certified instructor for SASTM and for over a decade has trained under David, working across the areas of therapy, personal training, wellness, and post rehabilitation and treating diagnosis to include: tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, knee pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, shin splints, ankle and knee sprains, plantar fasciitis, hamstring pulls, IT band, Achilles tendinitis and carpal tunnel.

Carl is the CEO of SASTM and resides in Fishers, Indiana with his wife Linda and daughter Ava.

David is the original inventor of a patented technique and tools that carry his last name. He originally developed instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization to assist in his own recovery from a water skiing injury that resulted in a dislocation of his right knee.

After recovering from his injury, David began working with numerous NFL players to treat injuries and increase their performance and went on to create a new method and instruments called SASTM – Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. SASTM is a method and design of instruments to assist in the location of soft tissue adhesions. This method detects and treats fascial restrictions, encourages rapid localization and effectively treats areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration.

Today David continues his work in helping individuals to improve their range of motion, flexibility, recovery time and performance through partnering with medical doctors, chiropractors, therapists and professional athletes and trainers from NFL, NBA, MLB and universities around the world.”

TJ Smithey is the new Director of Sales and Marketing for SASTM. TJ has over 28 years of pharmaceutical, medical and orthopedic sales and management experience. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Ball State University and his Master of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. TJ and his wife, Stephanie, have been married 29 years and have two children Ellen and Will.
